An all-solid-state thin-layer laminated cell for calibration-free coulometric determination of K+

Calibration-free coulometric determination of K+ ions was realized using an all-solid-state thin-layer laminated cell with a simple laminate structure. The fabricated consists Ag/AgCl electrode, plastic spacer for positioning the aqueous sample solution, organic ion-selective membrane, and conducting polymer/carbon electrode. An originally prepared conducting-polymer-dispersed ink cast on conductive carbon sheet (a screen-printed graphite electrode or paper) to fabricate achieved complete mass transport target ion from 1 mm3 drop membrane under constant potential between which generated electrical current enabling transfer. electric charge obtained by integrating used estimate molar amount in drop. For tetraethylammonium cations (TEA+; 20–200 μmol dm−3), evaluated amounts corresponded 92%–94% initial mole amounts. repeatability estimated same ±4%–6%, device-to-device reproducibility ±4% five cells. In terms K+-ion detection (0.1–0.8 mmol dm−3) drops containing NaCl (14 86%–92% amounts, indicating promise achieving calibration-free ten-fold-diluted serum.
